The United Church of God in the Philippines offers financial assistance on a limited basis for the attainment of higher education to qualified and deserving but financially challenged students affiliated with the Church, upon the recommendation of the Church Pastor and upon approval of the Senior Pastor based on approved standards, procedures, and guidelines.
 
Getting a basic formal education is one of the basic needs of individuals (and even a constitutional right in most countries), more especially for members of the Church of God who are being trained to be kings and priests in the coming Kingdom of God.
 
For the past two or three years, we have helped 14 Filipino students via the Good Works Scholarships or Educational Assistance Program. Below are some comments we have received from some of them:

“Greetings, my name is Cherie Caguioa from Pangasinan, Philippines. My father passed away some years ago. I stopped schooling because of lack of funds until the Church’s Good Works Program provided the necessary funding for me to finish the last two years of my course. I will be graduating this summer. Our family are very, very thankful to God for helping us through UCG and the Good Works Program.”

“In a third-world country like ours, it is the noblest dream of parents to be able to make their children graduate from college—even if it means going through many difficulties and sacrifices. Why? Because this is the only thing they know to ensure a brighter future for their children. Sometimes, if not often, they would sadly fail and just settle for a lower educational attainment.
 
It had always been a struggle for my parents to send me and my brother to school. When I finished high school, it became uncertain whether or not I could still go to college since it would become even more expensive. It made me sad, knowing I may be losing one of the greatest opportunities to succeed in this existence. I prayed to God for His will to be done in my life and I was delightfully surprised at how He answered it. The Church offered me a scholarship grant through the Good Works Program. My heart was jumping for joy and the feeling was indescribable because I know that a miracle just happened through the program of the Church. It strengthens my faith even more in our living God that He will not withdraw anything that is good for us. The Good Works Program not only helped me with my studies, it also inspired me to take my Christian walk with a willing heart to obey God knowing that He will never forsake me.
 
Looking back, it has been four years since I took college and now, as my graduation day is fast approaching, I still can’t believe and imagine myself walking in that aisle to receive my college degree. If it hadn’t been for the Good Works Program which financially and morally supported me, my dream would not have come to realization. Words could not contain my deepest and sincerest gratitude on how this Program made an impact in my life. All I can say is thank you Good Works Program for changing my life and showing me that God is indeed a living God who ‘is able to make all grace abound toward [us], that [we], always having all sufficiency is all things, may have an abundance for every good work.’ I thank you and pray to God to continually bless your benevolent efforts in helping the brethren.”
