Good Works is seeking a qualified individual, preferrably someone experienced in small scale or organic farming, to accompany Mr. Jorge de Campos to Brazil in April. Qualified individuals should have experience in farming or education in agricultural sciences.
This individual would evaluate the current farming practices of the community in Maloca de Moscou. This individual would then create a report with recommendations for improved practices, as well as a curriculum to be taught to the locals at a later date. If interested in participating, please contact Lena VanAusdle at Lena_VanAusdle@ucg.org with related experience, and three references (references should include pastor). Please submit your information by February 7, 2014.
The project is in a tribal reserve in Northern Brazil to help serve the Indian community in this village Maloca de Moscou. The people in this village are of the Wapixana tribe. The village has a population of approximately 600 people. Our main contact there for this project would be the currently democratically elected Indian tribal leader (the tuchau of the tribe), Mr. Carlos Mateus da Silva. The aim is to identify how we can help the village, either by farming education, or by identifying what they should plant (fruit trees or vegetables, or seeds, etc.), or better use of the cattle (they don’t plow with the cattle, nor do they have the plowing instruments), or by farming implements.
