Lawrence Chick

Lawrence Chick was born on the 4th of November 1995 in Margate, South Africa. He lived in South Africa for 12 years with his family before moving to Brisbane, Australia in late 2008 with his parents and two brothers. All the extended family on his mother’s side still live in South Africa, and the family on his father’s side are split between Australia and New Zealand. 

He graduated from high school in 2012 and currently attends the Queensland University of Technology having just completed his third year studying a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons); dual majoring in Mechanical and Structural Engineering.  He lives in Brisbane, Queensland with his younger brother and two house mates as his parents were transferred to Perth at the beginning of this year as the ministry required a position to be filled on that side of the continent. 

Some of his interests include the outdoors, music and sport. He is an avid sports person and very competitive;  He has played sports from a very young age but as he has grown older he have become more interested in adrenaline sports. I have done two bungee jumps and a gorge swing and he is always seeking something higher and faster. Growing up in South Africa, the outdoors is in his blood and camping was a regular holiday activity, and he continues to camp whenever he can. One of his favorite things to do camping is to play guitar around the camp fire and sing.

Since he was six years old he attended summer camps in South Arica and Australia and he has some very fond memories and experiences that have helped him to remain strong in the faith and build a good strong bond with God our Father. He is REALLY looking forward to growing, learning, meeting new people and rekindling old friendships at this Summer camp in South Africa, but most of all he hopes he can help young people in the church be strong, give them tools to overcome adversity and give them a helping hand and contact for when they feel like they are alone, because we are never alone in Gods true church.
