Today we departed our wonderful brethren in Guatemala and traveled to Solola. Our trip took us through some amazing landscapes, rolling hills and winding roads. Arriving at the orphanage, we were greeted by the family who run Eagle's Nest. Pedro, and his wife Feliz. It was clear early on that God has really blessed the work here at Eagle's Nest.
Eagle's Nest has grown dramatically since 2009 with the development of its school program taking children through grade 1-6 and now ranking second in Solola, with much media attention boosting local esteem. The children here show a tremendous amount of love and affection, and this is clearly seen in there bright, joyful behavior and openness towards others.
During our tour Pedro found out that I was an Aussie and jumped at the chance to talk to me. He tells me that the children love to meet people from other countries, so I really feel blessed and will want to leave a positive impression here. I have promised Pedro that I would send a few Australian rugby balls for the children as they love sports.
I am looking forward to the chance to teach the children and learn about them and their culture.
As far as we have traveled, with the focus of serving and helping others I cannot think of a more, illustrious and bright group of people to serve with.To my brethren and family back in Brisbane and around the world, I thank you for your prayers of safe travels and a successful fulfillment of our mission here. Please also pray for Kyle as he isn't feeling well and would appreciate prayers for a speedy recovery.
